KIDS’ GALLOP A TRIBUTE TO LES NOSEDA

Les Noseda

Les Noseda

The marathon festival’s Kids’ Gallop, one of two new events on the 2012 program, will honor the memory of Les Noseda who died in September 2011.

It was the remarkable Les who first came up with the idea of staging a marathon along the Great Ocean Road from Lorne to Apollo Bay.
A Great Ocean Road stalwart, Les was involved in numerous community activities, including generous support for the Apollo Bay Hospital and Otway Health.

All proceeds from the Kids’ Gallop will be donated to the Apollo Bay Hospital.
The Kids’ Gallop will cover 1.5kms and will start at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19.

It will follow the other new event on the festival program – the 6km Apollo Bay – Marengo – Apollo Bay run/walk, starting at 10 a.m.

The Kids’ Gallop is not a race. It is open to children of all suitable ages, and for Mums and Dads.
The course is flat and the cut-off time is an easy 30 minutes.
Entry fee is only $5 and entries will be taken near the start line at the Apollo Bay Hotel from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Numbers will be issued. There will be a host of random prizes.

To Les Noseda’s great delight, hundreds of children now attend the marathon festival with their Mums and Dads.

A special event for Kids and families was his personal wish.
