Getting to the start line for the marathon in Lorne or the half-marathon in Kennett River is a simple process.
You can take your own transport or use free bus service provided to competitors.
The Great Ocean Road will be totally closed to civilian traffic from 7.00am on Sunday, May 19, fully re-opening at Apollo Bay at the completion of the marathon.
Buses will run on:
- Sunday May 19, at 6.15 a.m. from Apollo Bay to Lorne (via Kennett River) and from Lorne to Kennett River.
- There will also be a 12 noon bus from Apollo Bay to Lorne (via detour) and 2.30 p.m. from Apollo Bay to Lorne (via Kennett River). You MUST indicate on entry form your requirements so that sufficient buses are available.
The Great Ocean Road from Lorne will gradually re-open as the marathon progresses.
DEPARTURES
Competitors wishing to depart Apollo Bay soon after their run/walk is completed can do so by driving the Great Ocean Road through Marengo, Lavers Hill, Beech Forest, and Colac or use other inland routes.
